The Widget - Installation Instructions

Concept

The Widget is an electronic, Anti-Theft Device that will reduce the available current to a vehicle’s operating components from the battery. It will not interrupt the normal working of the vehicle computer, radio, clock etc. The Widget’s patented design and technology, offers vehicle owners a very efficient and safe Anti-Theft solution.

Instructions

1. Ensure the ignition is turned off, and all other equipment and accessories, are turned off. Locate and open the battery compartment.

2. Remove the factory negative cable of vehicle battery. (Black or marked -) This is intended for installer safety, to prevent any sparking during the installation.

3. Remove the factory positive cable (red or marked with +) from the battery post of the vehicle.

4. Reconnect the vehicle positive cable to the post of The Widget. Ensure it is tight and secure. Use the large Velcro pads to cover and properly insulate the connection.

5. Connect the positive cable of The Widget onto the positive post of the vehicle battery and firmly attach it with the screw. Please be sure to tighten the screw securely and ensure that the red plastic insulator cap (included) is installed over the top post connection.

6. Now reconnect the negative cable of the vehicle battery, which had been removed in Step 2, back to the negative post of the vehicle. Install the negative earth wire (black or marked -) of The Widget in the bolt assembly and tighten securely.

7. Clean and prepare the battery or other surface area to mount The Widget. Use the double-sided tape and cable tie provided to securely mount The Widget.

8. The Widget is vibration resistant, but it is still important to secure it tightly to the battery or other mounting location. May require additional cable ties.

9. Now attach the security buzzer. Ensure the mounting surface for the buzzer is clean. Pull off the double-sided tape from the bottom of the buzzer and attach it to a secure place away from any moving parts or high heat sources.

10. The installation of The Widget is now complete. Close the hood. You many now arm and disarm The Widget with the remotes provided.

Changing The Remote Battery

1. Remove the three screws on the back of the remote and remove the back cover.

2. Replace dead battery with one A27 Alkaline 12V battery.

3. Reattach the back cover of the remote with the three screws.

Transferring The Widget To a New Battery

The Widget can easily be transferred to a new battery. You will only need some 3M adhesive double-sided acrylic foam tape and one ore more cable ties. When changing batteries, always ensure that you disconnect the vehicles negative cable and positive cable from The Widget before moving the unit, or disconnecting the negative ground. Then follow the installation instructions again to reinstall on a new battery.

Disconnecting The Widget

1. Remove the negative cable of the vehicle from the negative post and remove the black Widget ground wire from the vehicle battery ground cable.

2. Disconnect The Widget positive red cable from the battery positive post.

3. Disconnect the positive battery cable coming from the vehicle to the post of The Widget.

4. Reconnect the positive battery cable from the vehicle to the positive post on the vehicle battery.

5. Attach the negative cable of the vehicle to negative post on the vehicle battery again.

6. Now The Widget is disconnected.

Using The Remotes

1. Arming The Widget

a. If the vehicle is not equipped with an alarm system, press the "arm" button on the remote control to arm The Widget.

b. If the vehicle is already equipped with an alarm system, arm the existing car alarm first, then press the "arm" button on the remote control to arm The Widget.

c. Arm confirmation will be a single beep from the buzzer and the red LED indicator of the remote control will light up to indicate that the arm signal has been sent.

2. Disarming The Widget

a. If the vehicle is not equipped with an alarm system, press the "disarm" button on the remote control to disarm The Widget.

b. If the vehicle is already equipped with an alarm system, first press the "disarm" button on the remote control to disarm The Widget, then disarm the original alarm system.

c. Disarm confirmation will be two short beeps will and the red LED indicator of the remote control will light up to indicate that the disarm signal has been sent.

3. Passive Arming (arms The Widget automatically after the engine has been off for one minute.)

a. Passive Arm On: Press "arm" & "disarm" buttons at the same time and the buzzer will chirp three times.

b. Passive Arm Off: Press "arm" & "disarm" buttons at the same time and the buzzer will chirp five times.

Important: Do not crank the engine when The Widget, is armed to avoid resetting electronics such as clock and radio settings. This device is not approved for use in hybrid vehicles.

 

24 Month Warranty

The Widget comes with a 24-month warranty against defects or failure within 2 years of purchase. Warranty does not cover failures due to accidental damage, if submerged in water, misuse or failure to follow installation instructions. If the unit housing is opened without the manufacturer’s assistance, it will completely void the warranty.
